Since I'm a new CompuServite (ex-Delphian), how does everyone with an Amiga do FTP? (Besides using AmiTCP/PPP, etc..? Or is there no way to do it since there's no menu-driven method? I'm wanting to get the latest AsimCDFS v3.4 release off their FTP site? Gregory Donner Internet: 102673.1743@compuserve.com

Gregory, The only way to access the internet with an Amiga is by using AmiTCP and PPP. There is an instalition script here in the libs that will set up these two programs for you. After that, you can run Amosaic, Gui-FTP, ALynx, ect.. What is the internet address for AsimCDFS? I'd like to upgrade my version. Still at version 2. Stephen…AutoPilot 1.80, Mosaic1.2, Gui-FTP, Gopher, ALynx, CD-Rom and three hard drives. All on one A500! E-Mail "savner@clubmet.metrobbs.com"

> What is the internet address for AsimCDFS? I'd like to upgrade my version. Still at version 2. —snip— You have to buy the v3.0 upgrade from v2.0 (this is commercially available or directly from AsimWare). Once you have v3.0, you will be able to use the new v3.0 serial number to log onto their FTP site (ftp.asimware.com) and get the v3.4 update. Last I knew, the upgrade cost was +- $35.00. BTW, v3.3 is quite an update! Much more features/method of working is even more transparent, etc.! You can reach Paul Reeves via their new Email address: info@asimware.com Gregory Donner Internet: 102673.1743@compuserve.com

>>log onto their FTP site (ftp.asimware.com) and get the v3.4 update.<< How do you do that? Rather, how do you provide a login name and password different than what's in AmiTCP's config files? Mr. Zombie

Rather, how do you provide a login name and password different than what's in AmiTCP's config files? —snip— I'm not sure as I did not use AmiTCP to do it; I used Delphi's menu driven interface (not bad–it worked!).. haven't been able to do _any_ FTP since I moved to CIS. >>haven't been able to do _any_ FTP since I moved to CIS.<< Oh. 🙁 Mostly I use AMosaic, but some ftp sites aren't friendly to that, so I use ncftp, which I think came with AmiTCP. I'm not aware of any special configuration that I did, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. Mr. Zombie

Mr. Zombie, remember, that you log in as 76375.1776 (yes this must be your user name) when starting AmiTCP. The ftp tool must log you in at the remote host as 76375.1776@compuserve.com When I switched over to that, I had no difficulties anymore. Erich

Erich- >>The ftp tool must log you in at the remote host as 76375.1776@compuserve.com<< Sorry to be asking stupid questions, but how do I do that? And how do I provide a password different than what's in my AmiTCP config files? Mr. Zombie

Mr. Zombie, Add a line like the following 76375.1776||100|100|Paul Idol|Work:AmiTCP/Home|shell to your file AmiTCP:db/passwd and change the Home directory accordingly. There are 6 (six) | in this line! Then execute in a shell the command "login", give at the login prompt your new ID with <Enter> and at the password prompt only an <Enter>. Now you can change your password with the "passwd" command (remember your old password is empty). Erich
