#AMosaic vs MosDnet
2 messages in this thread
THanks for your patience. I'm in a bad mood with a bad cold and only getting
4-5 hours sleep. Have trashed and reformatted my WB2.1 HD on my A1000 twice,
needed more space for MUI, which is now loaded along with Auto Pilot on my
A1000. Where can I find Amigaguide.library which I need to make MUI work? Is
it on WB3.0 and do I need an AGA Amiga to use MUI? Probably do need an AGA to
load gif graphics files, right?
Betty, yes I do have the AP.Docs file, all 50 pages and have read most.
DOWNLOADING A FILE……..is on page 21, if they were numbered, or is it
section 21???, actually it seems to be on page 35 from the front. I downloaded
both iInst.lha and iInst151.lha. iInst150 won't work but iInst151 does. What
about pull-down menus on AmiTCP? The only graphic screen closes as soon as the
"on" window is unghosted. Or do you use the Mosaic screens. And do you need a
registered version of Magic User Interface for it to work? And what about Rexx
files. And how does one get the 600 + AP_Help files to work? Do they require
Rexx command strings?
(Now for philosophy)
Spent 90 minutes yesterday with very pleasant CompuServe WinCIM techs on the
800 number and tried a jillion initialization strings for the MultiTech 1431
modem. They were friendly and nice to talk to. One had even heard about
Amigas and wondered why CompuServe didn't have a graphic interface for what was
a super graphic machine. I wonder?……is it Money? I guess if thousands of
Amigans (Amigos?) have thousands of problems, then millions of Windows Users
have millions of dollars to spend on Networking.
Well, anyway, I've got AmiTCP, MUI, AMosaic (actually downloaded MosDnt.lha)
and got Mosaic_1.2_DNet loaded, which it says is for reading local hypertext
files but not for web browsing. And met lots of nice people on the AUForum.
No, I haven't found many teen-agers around here any more, at not in Century
Computer, the local Commodore store, where they all used to hang out. Century
is still in business, mostly Toaster Graphic, good for them, but the kids must
have gone Frys or Compu-World or Best Buy. The user groups meet once month in
Santa Ana and Long Beach, each a 40 minute drive in southern California. I
don't like to be out at nite around here, as you know it is possible to get by
with murder here.
About 30 civilians are killed every week in the streets, and a lot of spouse
abuse. No fear or respect for law, order, or civility. Our popular heros all
have feet of clay…and athlete's foot. They do run fast through airports!
Thanks again.

Sorry to hear you're ill. Perhaps you might want to wait 'til you're
feeling a bit better before digging into your system any more…just a
thought….:)
You don't need Amigaguide to make MUI work (though you might to read the
docs), but you can find it here as AMIGAG.LHA (library 2, official updates). I
thought Amigaguide came with OS 2.1, but if you don't have it, then maybe it
didn't. You don't need AGA to load GIFS but you will only be able to see them
in HAM6 (on your A1000). You will need Viewtek or another viewer that will
show them to you though.
