#To Buy or Not to Buy
2 messages in this thread
I would personally like to thank everybody leaving messages on this SIG for
helping me to make up my mind about whether or not to purchase an Amiga. My
decision is NOT to buy an Amiga for at least another year. After reading about
all of the bugs present in the software, lack of useable software at the
present time, updates in the operating system, disk drive noise, etc. I have
decided to wait. Perhaps the single most significant factor influencing this
decision is the 90 day warranty. One year would have been much more
acceptable. I can't see dishing out $1295 for a system that can not do what I
want it to do at the present time. After all, I would only have 90 days to
make a FINAL decision. The talk of a "head-knocking" mechanism on the noisier
drives brings back haunting memories of misalignment with my 1541 drive. I do
not want to be one of the "pioneers" braving the as yet unproven technology of
a machine such as the Amiga. I agree that pride and length of ownership as
well as overcoming shortcomings are fascinating aspects of new technology but
this pioneering spirit will not replace a $1295 check.

Oh well — guess not everyone has that adventurous spirit.
