AFTER INSTALLING 3 8K RAM CHIPS INTO MY NEW 8K M100 AND RUNNING THE RAM TEST I
GET "FAILED AT RAM LOCATION 44640". SHOULD I FIRST SWAP CHIPS TO SEE IF THE
SAME CHIP FAILS IN OTHER LOCATIONS? IF ONLY THIS ONE 'LOCATION' FAILS SHOULD I
IGNORE IT OR RETURN THE CHIP. HOW MANY LOCATIONS CAN FAIL BEFORE I SHOULD
RETURN THE CHIP? THANK-YOU.
I'd swap the chips. If the same address fals again you either have a Model 100
problem or a bug in the RAM test program.
NO computer can afford RAM errors. Expensive super-minis with
error-correcting memory can survive for a while, but it catches up with you.
The Model 100 cannot tolerate ANY RAM failures. Depending on where it is, it
will wipe out your system sooner or later.
