I am trying to find a way to print two columns of graphics on a single
sheet. I am using DPaint II and have found that preferences seems to have no
effect on the left and right margins. I want to print one graphic in columns
one to 40 and the other in columns 40 to 80 | Any suggestions?

Make a brush out of the graphics and "paint" them on a single screen
and then print that screen.

Maybe I don't understand but that doesn't quite do it. Let me try to
explain what I'm trying to do. I have a picture in Dpaint II in Hi-res when I
print it out on my NEC P5XL I set my left margin to 1 and the right margin to
40 and I get a clear picture in the left half of the page. I make this setting
after I select "print" from DP II. Then what I want to do is go back to the
top of the page and print another hi-res picture in columns 40 to 80 (on the
right half), thereby creating two columns of graphics on one 8.5 x 11 piece of
paper. If, when selecting print, I type in a left margin of 40 and a right
margin of 80 I get the same size picture as before but it is still on the left
half of the page. According to the DP II manual this is all that is supposed
to happen, the left and right margin only control the size, not the positioning
of the document. The other thing I have tried is to go into preferences of
DPII and change that setting from 1 to 255 to 1 to 40 and then 40 to 80 but
this has no effect. In fact, if I set preferences from 40 to 80 and then go
into DPII and set right margin to 1 to 40 (for sizing) preferences also gets
changed from 40 to 80 to 1 to 40. In a program such as Flow, if you change the
margins the text will be moved accordingly. The only thing I still haven't
tried is to change the pixel screen size from 640 x 400 to something like 1280
x 200, pasting the two column pictures on this screen and then printing this
out. Unfortunately I don't think my 512K can handle this.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

What I suggested would work….you take one picture…create a brush
out of the entire picture…save the brush. Then take the 2nd picture, and
create a brush out of the 2nd picture.
Now, clear the screen…grab the first brush and size it however you'd
like and "paint" (single click) it on the left 1/2 of the screen. Then grab
the 2nd brush and likewise paint it onthe right 1/2 of the screen.
Now print that screen using full width printing.
Preferences has no effect on DPaint II printing….it re-sets the
margins, etc. using the values you gave it….I'm not exactly sure why it won't
take your left margin setting…but obviously…it doesn't.
What I suggested (making 2 brushes) should work just fine. When you
tell DP II to print in columns 1-40, I presume it narrows the picture…this is
exactly what occurs when you size a brush…it simply narrows the picture. So
by putting one picture on the right half of a screen and the other picture on
the other half of a screen…it should come out exactly what you want. I'll
make sure tommorow…but see no reason why the final result won't be what you
desire.

My pictures are too large to have them on the screen at the same time. I have
found that when you resize a brush in DP you lose detail, wheprint it out with
a change of settings this isn't what happens. The dots become smaller but I
don't lose dots as I do when I resize (my drawings are line figures).

Maybe we are mis-understanding each other. My understanding is that
you have 2 full size pictures you want to print side by side on a single sheet
of paper. With that in mind…isn't re-sizing the pictures to fit side by side
on the screen the same (almost) as printing each picture 1/2 width on the
paper?
