#Silver Reed EX34 Driver
3 messages in this thread
I'm interested in buying an electronic typewriter which doubles as a computer
printer. The Silver Reed EX34 recently advertised in the DAK Industries
catalog looks good, but there are no Silver Reed printer drivers listed in the
Forum's Data Libraries. Does anyone know of such a driver? How difficult is
it to write a driver for a new printer? What, other than the printer specific
control codes, do you have to know to write one? Any help would be
appreciated; I don't want to buy a $169 electronic paperweight!
Michael,
We have a printer driver generator program here in DL 9 (PRDRGN.ARC)
but you have to fully understand what is going on in your printer and the
generator program for it to work effectively.
However, I _think_ DAK has a 30 day or so money back guarantee if
you're not satisfied with the product….you might want to give them a call
about that first to make sure.

Michael,
I've had the Silver Reed Ex-34 for about a month now. Using the generic
printer driver in preferences works fine Nothing fancy, just plain, perfect
text. Looks just like a typewriter, which is what it is. Good luck.
