A2000 Hard Drives
5 messages in this thread
We just installed a 2090 controller and a Seagate ST251 Hard drive (40
Megabytes) in our Amiga 2000. After a series of problems, we decided (rather
foolishly) to use DiskDoctor to check out/correct the drive. Ever since then,
although the drive is booting properly, the 2000 revalidates the sucker. We
even went so far as to re-prep and format the drive, and STILL the 2000
revalidates. Does anyone out there have any possible solutions to this?
Thanks!

For what it is worth, I had the same problem with a MicroBotics hard drive on
a 1000. If I have extra memory (2meg MB), it is fine; with 512K the stupid
thing has to re-validate on every boot-up. This too is after reformatting.

Does the Amy tell you that it is validating the drive? I know this may
be oversimple by the Amy sounds like it is revalidating the drive when the
binddrivers command is executed. 73, bill
The hard drive is not being validated immediately following the binddrivers
command. It continues to execute commands in the startup-sequence on the hard
drive, and then loads the disk validator from the boot floppy disk and starts
va starts validating the hard disk. When you finally get workbench up and
running and do a info command from CLI, you get the information that the hard
disk is being validated.

Paul,
What I'd suggest you do is make a current backup and then completely
re-do the HD installation. Something is wrong, it shouldn't do the validation
each time.
