OK – what's the scoop? The CIS News mentioned Kermit and a faster CIS-B, and I
notice Kermit is available as an option on downloads (I didn't try it, since I
wasn't interested in downloading anything for the moment). Is it faster/slower
than the new CIS-B? Any usage differences in the faster CIS-B? Can I (and if
so, how) start up Kermit on CIS in server mode?

What little bit I know:
Kermit is _slower_ than the new B. Almost _everything_ is slower than the new
B. Some of the sysops who have been testing it report transfer rates of only
_fractions_of_a_percent_ under the theoretical maximum. I dunno how they did
it, but they did. (Please note there are two varieties of "new B". One can
take advantage of many terminal programs automatically, increasing throughput
significantly. The other requires intelligient handshaking with the terminal,
ala Kermit, and runs like a banshee.)
I don't know if CIS Kermit will run in full server mode or not, though somehow
I doubt it. But, you can always try!
