There's an article on photographing the Amiga monitor in a recent issue of
"Amazing Computing" – the one with Max Headroom on the cover. Some of the
theory is a bit shaky, but the practical instructions are O.K. Your best
bet would be to try to find a copy – giving all the details here would make
a l-o-n-g message.
Short summary: (1) Darken the room so you won't get reflections on the
screen (2) Use a tripod – position the lens opposite the centre of the
screen with the camera square to the screen vertically and horizontally (3)
Use a telephoto or zoom lens – standard 50mm. lens puts camera too close to
screen and gives a distorted image (author suggests a zoom lens with 10
feet between camera and screen) (4) Turn monitor brightness and contrast
down slightly to avoid flare (5) For B&W or color prints, your camera's
meter will probably give useable negatives (should be about 1/4 second at
f/4 for ASA 100). For color slides, the exposure has to be exactly right,
so you'll have to bracket.
