#Color Printers

Billy,
You should really consider getting an ink jet printer if you want any
decent colour printing. That HP printer is probably the way to go and should
see if you can get any kind of deal on that. It does give excellent output (I
don't have one, but have seen the output).
From what I have seen on here, the ribbons on the colour impact printers
don't last very long, and of course don't even compare to inkjet for quality.
If you really can't go for something like the HP printer, you should consider
getting a good printer for just text/B&W graphics and try to get one of the
older inkjet printers for colour. I have an IBM Color Jetprinter and it is
built on the same engine as the QuadRam QuadJet and Canon PJ1080 (and the radio
shack version) but I beleive this one has the highest resolution of all of them
(100 dpi horizontal, 72 or 96 dpi vertical). There is an excellent printer
driver available for it (most of the code is mine). And the upkeep
cost/maintainance (sp?) are next to nothing. I have had the printer for almost
two years now and went through about four rolls of paper on it and am still on
the original ink cartridge! (Of course they are both going to run dry the next
time I go to use the printer!) The paper and ink cartridges are easy to get,
just go to your local radio shack store! The refills for trash shacks CGP-220
are what you need. (Finally something a trash shack store is good for!)

Thanks for the reply, I'll drag out my radio shach catalog and see what they
have.
I went to a local computer store here and saw a color printout of a inkjet
printer and "WOW", but I nearly went into shock on price and supplies costs.
But with your message I'll look into the Radio Shack catalog. The Inkjet
printer I saw was the HP and the guy said it goes around $900+ and $30 for each
of the ink wells. That may be too much just for home use. I wanted to be able
to put color into my research papers, my writing abilities are weak and I
thought with color and graphics it may makeup for my writing.
Thanks for the reply.
