I thought I had sent a message to you regarding this matter, but perhaps in my ignorance I sent it into never-never land. Anyway, I have downloaded the ARC'd file of Windows-oriented Helvetica Condensed fonts for use with Pagemaker, etc. and my AST TurboLaser/PS, which has HVC resident. All is fine except for HVC Oblique which got unARC'd (at least as far as the listing in Windows font and character dialog boxes is concerned) as Helvetica Black Oblique. Also, clearly this is not an oblique face as represented on the screen. I have not tried printing anything formatted as Helvetica Black Oblique, so I have no idea if there is a problem in that regard. It is disconcerting, however, to encounter this problem. Was a mistake made in creating the ARC file I downloaded? Also, I saw in an earlier message reference to Garamond (which I assumed to refer to Garamond Book) and Garamond Condensed. I understand the wheels of progress sometimes grind not only exceedingly fine, but exceedingly slow as well. Nevertheless, it would be a boon to know that many, several, a few…even one or two a quarter…condensed fonts, especially serif fonts and Futura in various weights, will be forthcoming. I direct your product marketing people's attention to the kinds of faces that are getting used in the best advertising and collateral materials these days. Speaking of which, how about faces like Administer, Bauer Text, which are mighty handsome, calligraphic in origin and intent, and wonderful to use? Thanks for your attention.
