I really need some advice. I want to get into 3-D drawing and animation.
What package or packages should I buy? What programs would make a good
foundation? If someone would ask me a similar question concerning paint
packages I would start off with DeluxePaint II and then either recommend
Digi-Paint or Photon Paint. Though there are other fine programs these, to
me would make a solid base from which to build a library. So of all the
various software packages such as: Sculpt 3D, Animate 3D, Sculpt-Animate
4D, Turbo Silver, Forms in Flight II, 3-Demon, 3-Tuple, C-light, Design 3D,
Videoscape 3D and Modeler 3D which would you recommend and why?
I'd recommend Turbo Silver 3.0. It's *really* fast, and you can get
excellent results with it. You can set just about everything you want with
the program. You can do glass objects, reflective surfaces, water, etc.
Take a look at some of the Turbo Silver pics in the library.
I also have Sculpt-3d, and I'm really happy with the object editor it has.
I don't really like the editor in Turbo, so I create objects in Sculpt and
I use the Interchange program to convert to Turbo Silver format.
Thanks for the opinion. This is the kind of help I'm looking for. Have
you tried animate 3-d for your renderings? Is it too slow or doesn't
provide necessary tools? Do you think sculpt's editor is better than
Modeler 3D?
Remember, this is just opinion…. At the time I had Animate-3D (I
returned it to Byte by Byte), I found that I couldn't use #@effectively
with my system. I was trying to use it on a 1 MEG 2000 with 2 disk
drives. I think that if I tried it now that I have a hard disk, it might
be a bit easier to use, but I have no interest in trying it.
I haven't used Modeler 3D, so I can't really comment on that.
I've *just* started doing animations with Turbo Silver, and I've found it
very easy to use. As soon as I have something fit for other humans to
see, I'll upload something. 🙂
