Yes, but… That's just the work itself.
The *performance* is also copyrighted for 75 years (I think), which means that
just about any music you'd get commercially is still under performance
copyright, even if the piece itself is in public domain (to make sure, look for
a symbol with a "P" surrounded by a circle–that denotes performance
copyright).
Seems to me there's a company somewhere that does classical buyout tapes/CDs,
though of course I don't have the name handy <nertz!>…
