Nothings working right. I've spent the last 2 hours trying, although the
downloading seemed to go just fine. I still ended up with nothing, I think.
I am sure it's me and not your instructions. I just don't understand what
I'm doing wrong, or not doing period. I'm so frustrated!
Am gonna go read my book about living off the land! Maybe I should just
"chill" for a few minutes and start again a little later.

OK. Calm down a bit. Take a few minutes off, kick to dog, or do whatever
you do to calm down. We've got a slight problem, but it isn't
insurmountable.
The most obvious thing that comes to mind is that you did not specify the
pathname for the download. When CompuServe asks the infamous question
"Filename for your computer," you need to supply the full pathname, as in
DF1:LHARC.EXE. Since you were getting indications of a good download, the
file probably ended up somewhere in your system. You might look in RAM:,
or on the disk your terminal program lives on (most likely).
I know you are capable of downloading, since you got the Whap! archive in
the first place. I'll send you a different utility (called LZ), which can
also break out the Whap! archive using the same format. It's a little
smaller, but not quite as full featured. It's said to be faster, but LHarc
files are very slow to recover at best. This will also be an executable
file, which you can just put in your C: directory or the Whap: disk.
When you get it, try breaking out the Whap archive as I've told you in a
previous message. Let me know if you have any troubles (again), and I'll
come to Conference for real-time instructions sometime between 7 and 8:30
(you specifiy a time convenient to you.) I'll be busy until 7 (EST by the
way) as I'm making Chili, and watching the News (I don't wanna get recalled
to fight in Kuwait and not know it. 🙂 ) When we get the archive broken,
the fun begins. 🙂
