<< Does anyone can tell me the goods and the bads of the Puppeteer Plug-in from Schreiber? >> If you don't need to use Motion Capture, you're much better off with the IK in 3DS R4, and will save some money as well. BILL

Bill, >> If you don't need to use Motion Capture, you're much better off with the IK in 3DS R4, and will save some money as well. << There are ways of using MoCap with R4's IK and I actually mentioned a theory a few months ago. It could be done with some fairly reasonable keyscript programming. Sample the data from an optical or magnetic system into an ascii file. Right a script to interpret the data and create keys for dummy objects. Then use IK to solve the motions from the dummy to the appropriate limb. One of my old friends/clients (Alberto Menache) is doing something just like this his new optical motion capture studio in LA.

Puppeteer is neccesary only if motion capture data is going to drive your figure. If this is the case just be aware that you must model the figure first (there are a few ponters for this too, like modelling with extended arms and open legs, palms facing down etc.). Next create the skeleton for that figure and then, and only then, capture the motion data to drive the joints that you already have. In othe words give your skeleton (with every joint properly named) to whoever is doin the motion capture and assign the data channels to those joints. Then your project might not become a nightmare. Good luck, Arturo
