#Perspective matching R4
5 messages in this thread
We are currently involved in the creation of CG's for a music video. The
director is proposing to composite live action and CG's together. We have
employed this technique many times for BBC Telivision with great sucess. This
time however the camers shot is a moving one. Clearly a challenge but with the
new perspective matching tool in R4 we felt this would be achievable.
Unfortunately the perspective matching tool is only functional in the 3D editor
making it imposible to perspective match a camera to a path in the keyframer.
We feel this would be an extremely useful tool and, possibly not to difficult
to generate. The bitmapped backgrounds could be manually reassigned if only
perspective matching could load in the keyframer and function with relation to
the time line.
Is it possible to dissable fast preview mode, and enable perspective match in
the keyframer? Could this be achieved via an additional code in the
keyscripting language or from another source.
Your help and advice would be much appreciated.
Chris
You'll have to talk to Jonas or one of the Autodesk folks about this, since we
had nothing to do with the fast preview/perspective match system in r4.

Hi Christopher,
<< Is it possible to dissable fast preview mode, and enable perspective match
in the keyframer? >>
I'm sorry but this cannot be done.

It would have to be modifications to those IPAS routines. I'll take your
comments as a wishlist item.

JOnas,
I sent you a separate note on the Ghost painting issue. But I am thinking how
best to utilize perspective matching in simplifying the animated drawing and
the brush synchronization?

A somewhat tedious method exists for you to use the Editor's Camera Control for
a series of background images/animation. It's a kludge, but it works:
Match the camera to the image with Camera Control, clone the camera, match the
next image, clone the camera, and so on…… Now, with Keyscript, copy those
tracks from the cloned cameras to the original.
If this sounds feasible to you, but you need help with the Keyscript, I would
be happy to write one and upload it to the forum for you (and other's) use.
