John, what you say has some merit….but we are going to create another
class of drug users added to the tobacco and alcohol ones. Believe me, as
a former tobacco user for 30+ years and an occasional drinker, I've seen
what these can do. As for other drugs, I was in the military during the
60's (61-68…101st Airborne Div), and have seen what enormous damage they
can do as well. It is indeed perplexing and I have daughters growing up
and literally try to educate them about the dangers inherent with any drug
use.
I just don't see where de-criminalization would work….actually, we should
take a lesson from the middle east….instant death to drug dealers (my
last year in the service was as an advisor to Saudi Arabia's military and I
got to see first hand what their punishment does to people).
