#AMIX Compatiable
2 messages in this thread
I have an Amiga 3000 with 4 meg of ram and 210 of hard disc. I am
interested in using AMAX to learn some Mac (icck) stuff, but I have some
questions.
#1 What kind of proformace can I receive using my 68030 25mhz? About how
fast, compared to an XXXX model mac.?
#2 Does Amax support mac color (icck) or sound, or system 7?
#3 Can I use my amiga serial ports and printer ports?
#4 How compatiable is AMAX with a MAC? 100% ? 50%?
#5 what do I need to purchase?
Will AMAX run on my amiga concurrent with AmigaDos?

Alan:
1) Performance is very good. I haven't run benchmarks but running MPW C
compiles on my 3000 seems as fast as the IIx we have at work.
2) No
3) Yes
4) I have found it to be 100% compatibile.
5) You will need the AMAX unit, 128K Mac ROM's and a Mac floppy drive. You
will also need access to the Mac system software. You will need to
repartition your hard drive to add a Mac partition.
No AMAX does not run concurrently with AmigaDOS. Double click on an ICON to
start AMAX, reboot your machine to return to AmigaDOS. Note: there is a
great utility here on CIS to speed up the Mac boot by copying the ROM's to
hard disk. Software is provided to transfer files from the Mac side to
AmigaDOS.
I am very happy with AMAX. -=Martin=-
