#Magic IPAS usage?
4 messages in this thread
Hi, does anyone have any experience using the "magic" IPAS routine from
Digimation. I just got it and tried the tutorials and experimentation and am
still only getting basic dust. How do you get the really cool results, as in
the .flc included witht he routine? What setting do I need to really make alot
of colorful magic? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Craig Meadows.
Magic is one of my favorite routines. It is also very powerful.
To get a good fairy dust settings shoud be as follows.
1 particles around 2000
2 initial spread shoud be low. This allow particle to spurt from a point (2)
3 Spread rate about 3 or 4
4 gravity at about 2
5 influence at about 75%
6 start and end (set to the length you need)
7 life = 30
8 variation at 10
9 chaos set low
This will give great results with magic4.axp using a small box
Color depends on the map you are using. Using wild gradients will give you
cool
effects.
Magic has best results when combined with a glow or hilite rountines,
especially
when used with "Lenzfx" from Digimation, using Starlite.
Tips.
for Magic torches use magic with a negative gravity. This cause particles to
go up .
For Explosions use several Magic boxes with varying start frames. Make one
box at "startframe" 1 endframe 3 then use another box next to it start 2 end 5
make sure Initial velocity is high and spread rate is high.
I hope this makes sense to you.

Craig, what you are probably missing is the glowing effect to make the dust
sparkle more "magically".<g>
Either the Yost Group Glow routine or Digimation's LenzFX should do it for you.

PMJI – I somehow missed the responses to your question… do you remember the
message numbers… I use magic, too, and am collecting tips. Thanks very much,
