#Questions on DAK package
3 messages in this thread
Is there any chance of DAK offering an internal add on drive? I bought a
tower case when I got my latest computer so I wouldn't have to mess with
add-on boxes. Or can I just unbolt the external one from its case and move
it into my PC? Finally, do your drives have audio outputs? The catalog
picture looks like it has a headphone jack on the front, but no mention is
made of RCA jacks or audio capability. Since Drew usually notes every
feature, it made me wonder whether these drives don't have RCA jacks.
Thanks.

No, the drive we sell is external and really isn't meant to be operated out
of its case.
It does have standard RCA line outputs on the back and includes a couple of
different programs for playing regular music CDs.

About a year ago, I bought the DAK CD drive package, and mounted
the drive internally. It was the Sony drive; I don't know what they are
selling now. The drive (insice the external box) is the same physical
drive they sell as an internal option with the BSR computer. I had to
provide my own mounting rails, connecter ribbon and connectors (to go
between the inernal drive contacts on the board and the drive), and some
jumpers to take the place of the dip switches on the back of the case. It
works great, but now I have an extra external case, with power supply and
cable. I can't guarantee the current drive is the same, but I would bet it
is. If not, it's still a pretty good deal.
