Thanks to you and all the others who helped. The new extensions arrived.
The instructions were written in techie so I applied my own logic to the
problem and now everything seems to be running fine. I needed to make a
change in SETVER [which I now understand, more or less] and install the new
extensions. Now my CD-ROM has a drive letter, my Time Almanac is installed
and things are looking better.
