I have to write the cover story for the in-house publication of a major computer company on CD-ROM. I'm looking for applications–either how you're using it, or how you may be publishing your info in CD-ROM Please leave a message describing yr. application. If it sounds good, I'll interview you by phone. You will see the article before publication. Thanks. Nick There are 2 Replies.

I'd be happy to talk to you about how the Air Transport Association is using CD-ROMs to support aircraft maintenance; also how they are setting standards to eliminate some nasty implementation problems from a producer/consumer perspective. [I am a consultant to the ATA and ATA members and representative for them in several national/international standards orgs.] Try calling Monday about 2:00.

Nick, What major computer company are you writing this for? If the readers have an interest in computer information, we currently have two products that you might like to include. COMPUTER SELECT — Contains 12 months worth of about 160 computer related journals (about 60 in full text). A new disc is issued each month and each disc contains a complete year of each journal. In addition the disc contains over 70,000 hardware and software specs and 12,000 computer company profiles. Annual subscription cost: $995 SELECT DEMOS — Contains over 1100 demos of DOS and Windows based applications. The demos are the same as the ones the Software Manufacturer sends out. Cost: $149 (currently available for $99) Both products are published by the Computer Library Division of Ziff Communications. If you're interested in including information about these products in your article, let me know. Frank There is 1 Reply.

What major computer company? We have clients who might be willing to discuss corporate applications of CD-ROM (e.g., portable technical manuals, networked image system for product literature, software source code and documentation, etc.) Dennis McDonald Online Copmputer Systems Inc. 20251 Century Blvd. Germantown MD 20874 phone 301-601-2226 fax 301-428-2903

I'm not sure. Ziff is definitely expanding into Europe, but I'm not sure what our plans are for marketing Computer Library products. Currently our products are marketed through dealers outside the U.S. Frank
