#IPAS catalog
10 messages in this thread
Hi, I've seen references to an IPAS catalog in several messages. Can I get
this catalog or some more information about what it is?
thanks, john
I'second that emotion ! What is IPAS ?
Brian: IPAS programs work in 3D Studio and are external programs that
affect rendering and animation. There were a few included with 3DS2 that
were cool and when I heard of a catalog of more I was really interested in
finding out what they were. Do you have 3DS? If you do, what are you
using it for (besides fun!)? I am using it for terrain modeling,
animation, and video for educational markets as well as tv production. My
only problem is dragging publishers and clients into the new world of video
and animation. They need to catch the wave…

Our firm just bought a copy (on yours truly's urging) to try and learn
about electronic rendering. OK, the R12 deal helped ! Anyway, we have 386
33s at the office but one of the CAD operators bought himself a 486 50
reciently so we sent it home with him to see what he could learn in his
spare time. Not much so far so I'm now manuvering to get a 486 66 in the
office and the time to learn the program – meantime I'm lurking around here
trying to pick up useful tidbits. BTW we are an architectural firm, so we
arre interested in rendering buildings. -Brian
Brian:
Good for you! Both your designers and clients and bottom line will profit
from your decision to use 3DS in your Architectural projects. That's how
we got started, and have almost completely given up architecture for the
elusive video in the sky. Instead of our own, we animate other people's
projects (with other people's money!)
Good luck, don't hesitate to ask if you ever need any help!

John, if you're a 3DSr2 owner, you should've gotten a little white IPAS
card with your registration card. When you send that in, I'll send you a
brochure.
If, for some reason, you don't have an IPAS card, you can email me your
3DSr2 serial number AND your hardware lock serial number (IPAS brochures
are only sent to registered users) with your name and address and I'll get
one out to you.

G:
OOPS! I did have the IPAS card buried and didn't realize it. You'll be
getting it very soon. If you don't mind me changing the subject, I'd like
to know how many 3DS users are out there. Have a ballpark number? Thanks.
-john
I'm glad you found the card… send it on in. Regarding 3DS users… I'm
not authorized to disclose sales information, but Autodesk was officially
commenting on the fact that they reached their 10,000th 3DS user in July.

The most recent figure I heard was over 11K.
