Hello Pat! I found the GIFDXF in lib 3. The documentation is good and it's easy to use. I'd be glad to send a sample of what I did with it. Do you want the initial grey scale GIF, the rendered GIF, or the 3d mesh? As I'm new to compuserve, could you give me a two sentence tutorial on how to upload a file? By the way, I also wrote some software to convert any surface you can define mathematically into a mesh to load into 3ds. You can animate complex SIN functions, etc. Any interest in that? JKJ

Hi John, I've been looking for something to import math functions into 3DS. Your program sounds just like what I'm looking for. Did you write it professionally? If not, would you mind uploading it? I'm sure a few other people here would be able to use it also. Thanks Aaron

John, the program you wrote to convert functions to meshes sounds very interesting. I've been thinking about doing something like it for awhile, and am glad to see someone else come up with it! How about uploading it here to the forum? – G

I bet you could write that in Excel, for example…

I'm sure you could… the new version of Excel is so powerful that you could do some pretty amazing parametric modeling in it, and at least output ascii files. – G
