#Need Help Falcon for Ami
5 messages in this thread
All,
I started a campaign to get Falcon 3.0 published for the Amiga. I have
collected 1000 names from Long Island alone of people that want it. Some
have already bought PCs' just to be able to play. I need help. Collect
some names and send them to me via EMail. I'm having some success here on
CIS. 10 names and counting. Please try to ask friends and aquaintences
that own Amigas too. The more the BETTER. SH seems to think we didn't
fuy Flight of the Intruder because there weren't enough Amiga owners to
justify it. I stipulate that we didn't buy it because of two things;
1- The game was too limiting. One scenario, Operation Linebacker in Viet
Nam.
2- They gave us a second rate Flight Sim when at the same time promoting
Falcon 3.0 to every one else.
The net effect. Amiga users chose to delay or cancel their purchase of
FOTI until Falcon 3.0 came out for the amiga.
Does anyone agree. Please send EMail. Also Sieera On-Line is also
delaying any further releases for the Amiga until they see a sales
increase.

Peter,
You _may_ be more successful if you compile, in addition to the list of
names, the hardware configuration of the folks who are clamboring for the
product. How many of these people have "equivalent hardware" to the
machine requirements for the MS-DOS version? I don't know what Falcon 3.0
requires on the PC (I'm not at all into flight sims myself), but do know
that it requires more than an XT clone. Does it require a '386-class
machine? Does it require "expanded memory" or will it run on a 640K
machine? Does it require a hard disk? This is one of the big problems
(speaking from personal experience) for game developers creating games for
multiple platforms – what is the "base" machine that my game will run on.
In the PeeCee market, this is less of a problem because the numbers are
such that such ventures can still be profitable if the low-end machines
cannot run the product. In the Amiga market, I don't think this is true
(yet). And in the Amiga market, the "base" machine is still a 68000-based
computer with 1 meg of RAM and 2 floppy drives. It's a tight fit (at
best) for most current PC games!
Good luck in your efforts, tho.

All I can say is good luck.
I own an Amiga 3000 (my second Amiga), and have been an Amiga Evangelist
for years.
Spectrum HoloByte is currently trying to run itself into the ground with
poor management and poor marketing decisions.
Having worked at several industry-leading game companies, I can say that
Spectrum HoloByte is the sleaziest I ever dealt with.
I can assure you, their management doesn't give a gnat's ass about the
Amiga. Trust me, I tried to convince them.
As far as I could tell, you'll NEVER see FALCON3.0 on an Amiga (or isthat
Amoeba? . . . Amigo?. . .Who cares . . . UUURRRGGHH!)
Good Luck, but don't hold your breath.

P.S. I am restricted from telling you some of the other STUPID decisions
they have made concerning the Amiga in Virtual Reality R&D !!!
Count me in for Falcon 3.0. I messaged SH soon after I tried the program
on my Messy Dos unit. I did buy FOTI and was dissappointed when comparing
the two sim's.

Count me in for Falcon 3.0….
I run an A3000 with 10 megs of RAM and the "standard" 105 meg drive. I was
an absolute nut for the PC version of Falcon, and will likely buy the
present Falcon IF IT IS 2.0/3000 COMPATIBLE. If not, I have better ways to
spend the ol' dollars….
