A while back I wrote about trying to find a piece of software to frame accurately output on a Matrox editing system. Well, Soft VTR was suggested, but it's about a grand and beyond my budget. So I brainstormed and this is what I came up with. A FREE FRAME ACCURATE WAY TO OUTPUT ON A MATROX EDITING SYSTEM!!!! Yes it's true, and it's fast and reduces wear and tear on your output decks. It doesn't cost anything but time and effort and it's worth it. 1. Gather together some targa frame output of your average length animation. Name the first four characters something generic and easy to remember. then clip collect all your files with the preferences set to grab still images at 1 frame. 2. after the tedium of clip collecting 2 to 300 frames, build a storyboard on your avail. video and graphics lines (note a line with a titania 3D dve will not register and cannot be used) for example place frame one on video line one, two on two, etc… until you loop back to one. 3. when you output your Targa frames place them in the same directory as the original frames you clipped and name them according to the clip names you picked in step 1. once your finished just highlight and print out the section of the storyboard you want to output. It works great! I get my output done in a quarter of the time and put 1/4 less use on my Beta deck. If I've confused anyone just write me some e-mail and I'll be glad to send you more info. I just read your message about doing single frame animation using Matrox Studio linear storyboard. Good Idea. Since you seem to have already done the hard part, would you be interested in e-mailing me the storyboard so I can try and make it available to others in our forum and BBS? If so, you will need to send me the .PPS, .PPC and .PPI files for this project. I also need to know what directory each of the files is in. Where is your company located? I look forward to hear from you. Alan M. Vernick Southeast Regional Manager Matrox Video Products Group
