3D2 Book

Boy oh boy would I EVER pay $XX.XX for a book on 3D Studio!!!!
Look, the tutorial is great, the reference is complete but both miss the
essence of an add on book (and this is NOT intended as a critque of
either): to provide day to day IDEAS on how to use this stuff. A third
party book on 3D should (IMHO) explain ALL the neat and wonderful tricks,
tips, and other misc. that most of you "experts" take for granted. Even
simple things like lighting, color sense, optimum rendering setups, design
ideas, use of morphing (for a superb technique it is given only CURSORY
treatment in both manuals!), generating a movie (timing considerations,
length of shots, etc.), business uses — I could go on and on and on (as a
former wordsmith I tend to drivel — I just wish I had the expertise to
write the book myself!).
I suspect that, out of a user base of 10K or so, less than 1K know much
more than what's in the tutorial. Artists, graphics hobbyists such as
myself, and all manner of less than "pros" would buy this book (I'll bet
you'd sell at LEAST 8K copies — is that enough?). Or, to put it another
way, I'm a DTP expert who still shells out $50 now and then just to get
some Pagemaker tips (and, yes, that includes books in your series). And I
agree that even those who don't own 3D would buy it — you'd probably sell
another 5 or 6K to those who are thinking about (actually, Autodesk ought
to subsidize YOU).
I expect to see it at Waldensoftware sometime next spring. Please?
