AUTODESK SHOWCASE FORUM OPENS

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
This new forum is intended to provide users of Autodesk
products with a place to show off their best works, and to
preview new work for peer review. We will also be hosting
special projects of interest to forum members and users of
our software. Product demos will be made available for those
interested in investigating other products in our line of
software, or by related vendors.
IT IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A SUPPORT FORUM, and will not be
used to discuss problems or solutions with software, except
in terms of tips and techniques and commentary on work in
progress.
FOR SUPPORT AND PROBLEM REPORTING, please go to the Autodesk
AutoCAD forum (GO ACAD)for AutoCAD and related products; the
Autodesk Multimedia forum (GO ASOFT) for 3D Studio and the
Animator products; and Autodesk Retail forum (GO ARETAIL)
for AutoSketch, AutoCAD LT, and Generic software.
Message sections:
The message sections are for discussion of works in the
libraries: comments, questions, praise, and criticism.
Please use the name of the file as part of the subject
field. There will be areas available for the use of special
group projects organized by members of the forum and
involving Autodesk software, and for software demos.
Libraries:
The libraries are set up by general subject, and will
contain images, drawings, slides, sketches and animations in
a variety of formats. Anyone who uses Autodesk software,
beginners and professional alike is encouraged to place
files in the libraries for display. However, you must list
the name of the Autodesk software used in the creation or
processing of the file.
Conference:
A limited number of conference areas are available for on-
line group conversation and arrangements can be made in
advance for private or public conferences.

MESSAGE ANNOUNCEMENT
The message sections are for discussion of works in the

There are some rules concerning the posting of messages. You
are expected to apply common sense and common courtesy in
your communications. Remember that postings here are
voluntary, and we wish to encourage the development of
skills and an atmosphere of friendliness and learning.
Profanity, personal insults or hostility toward different
beliefs and cultures will not be tolerated; CompuServe and
Autodesk are international. Criticism should be presented in
as positive a manner as possible.
In an effort to keep communication as direct and as clear as
possible, please use the name of the file discussed as part
of the subject field.
1) GENERAL INFORMATION – for questions and announcements
concerning the forum operation and forum wide issues.
2) SHOWCASE CAFE – Everybody comes to Rick's, or maybe that
place in your neighborhood. A section for the exchange of
opinion and philosophy, not related to a specific area of
the forum.
3) IMAGES – for the discussion of animations in the forum
libraries. Uploaders can explain the animations and receive
questions about methods.
4) ANIMATIONS – for the discussion of images in the forum
libraries. Uploaders can explain the images and receive
questions about methods.
5) WORK IN PROGRESS – for comments about members unfinished
work.
6) PRODUCT DEMOS – questions and answers about product
demos.
7) STUDIO CITY 2000 – for discussion of this special
project.

The libraries are set up by general subject, and will

Guidelines for file uploads
All new files will go into the New Files library for review
and distribution to the various libraries. Files will be
kept in the New Files library for 2 weeks.
All files must contain the name of the Autodesk software and
related vendor product (if any) used in the creation or
processing of the file in both the keyword and description
parts of the file listing. The file type, format, and
resolution (e.g. IMAGE, GIF, 640×480) must also be contained
in the keyword and description fields. Any file lacking this
information will not be allowed into the forum library
1) NEW FILES – the starting point for all new files; upload
files here.
2) SHOWCASE KIOSK – the kiosk right outside the cafe, a
place to look for official announcements and files. Members
can also have their resumes, business cards, or job postings
tacked up here. Make sure you reference any work posted in
the various libraries.
3) ARCHITECTURE – Images, drawings, slides, and animations
for the Architectural, Construction, and building fields.
Offices, buildings, houses, floor plans, furniture, and
other related subjects.
4) FANTASY – Dragons, dungeons, castles, magic, imaginary
creatures, and other things from the worlds of fantasy,
romance, fiction, mythology and religion.
5) FINE ARTS – Images, drawings, sketches and animations
from the fine art fields. Abstracts, still life's, and
portraits, for example.
6) LANDSCAPES – Images and animations of landscapes and
geographical features.
7) NATURE – Animals, plants, fish, insects, mammals, and
bacteria from the natural world on the planet Earth.
8) POTPOURRI – A haven for images and animations that can't
be described by any other library section.
9) SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY – Files related to science,
technology, medicine, mathematics, and other fields of basic
research. Graphs, charts, images, animations, projections
and conclusions.
10) SPACE/SCIENCE FICTION – Anything from space exploration
and Science Fiction. Planets, moons, asteroids, stars, and
the means to get there, live there, or work there. How it
is, or what we think it will be like, and who (or what) we
might encounter on the way.
11) VEHICLES – Cars, trucks, boats, planes, skateboards,
submarines and things that carry people or cargo from the
center of the earth to the edge of space.
12) WORK IN PROGRESS – A place for "work in progress" in
order for people to get reviews or criticism before
completion.
13) STUDIO CITY 2000 – Files related to the Studio City 2000
project.
14) LOGOS – Company and product logos.
15) PRODUCT DEMOS – Demos of Autodesk and other related
vendor products.
16) GAME PUBLISHERS – Images and animations from works by
game publishers using Autodesk software.

CONFERENCE ROOMS ANNOUNCEMENT
