Imagine SLICE?

Hi; Every time I sit down to use Imagine (2.0) I learn something new, but one area of operation has got me stumped. The SLICE command almost always gives me the dreaded "Error: an edge is too close to an edge, or too near to a face". My original background is with CAD systems which support boolean add, subtract, and slice/divide functions. With such systems there are usually no slice restrictions as to where the entities intersect, except that they must actually intersect somewhere in 3-space. As I understant it, the SLICE command performs polygon subdivision along all intersecting faces. The only exception I can think of is a resulting zerolength (degenerate) polygon which is normally discarded. I guess what I'm after are some guidelines or suggestions to help me get around this problem, maybe I just have to alter my idea of how to go about doing things. Here's what I'm trying to do… I'm using a few of the Star Trek objects that can be found on Compuserve, such as NCC-1701A and RELIANT. I need to inflict some battle damage on one of the ships, like punching a few holes in the saucer section or breaking off a warp engine. Sounds simple enough, but in two days of work I've had no luck. P.S. I once tried to register my copy of Imagine, but your office says they never heard of me. My copy of Imagine didn't have a registration card. Do I need to send you one (or all) of my original disks with a copy of my receipt ? I need to get registered because I would like to get in on your upgrade offer to the PC based version of Imagine. Ron Flory 71053,3551
