In library 12… PRELEM.LHA/Bin Bytes: 399597, 08-Nov-92 Title : Animation for the upcoming LEMMINGS II game! Keywords: LEMMINGS ANIMATION This is an animation that heralds the coming of a new version of Lemmings! If you liked Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings, download this animation. It's a non-playable demo, but it's pretty funny!

Steve, I downloaded the new lemmings demo but i can't get it to do anything! I have a file called 12_anim.exe and I've tried booting it, I've tried executing it, I've tried various commands from CLI….what do I do? Bob Kuzmeski

Bob, Double check what you're trying to run. The first character of the filename is a lower case "L" — not the 1 (one) you typed in your message. All that's needed to run the animation is to cd to where you have the file and type l2_anim.exe <cr>.

I got the animation to run up to the part where the screen said L2 – Judg the Play…is there more beyond that? Bob K

I don't remember where that part is — if you saw bar scene you probably saw it all, if you didn't, you didn't see anything (of the anim).

That's all there is to the animation. I uploaded a playable demo to library 4. Steve

Thanks Steve(s), I got it up and running…the problem was that while I have 2 megs of chip ram, the program seems to need fast ram (of which I have 1/2 meg). If anyone else comes up with this problem I solved it by changing the startup-sequence by adding the commands CD DF0: (as the anim was on a floppy) and l2_anim.exe. By putting those commands high in the directory…I was able to have the program run before anything else loaded! Bob K.

Are you typing "12_anim.exe" or "l2_anim.exe"? That first character is the letter "l" not the number one. What kind of error messages are you getting? Steve

OK – I've typed "l" now but it won't run because it has "insufficient free store" – my hard drive's not that full!!! Bob

"Insufficient free store" means you don't have enough ram (more than likely chip ram) to run the animation.

Steve, I have 2 megs of ram….how much does it need? Bob K

Bob, That all depends on what else you've got running at the same time. If you had the archived file in ram: (it's 399k) and decompressed it to ram: that's probably taking up 800k-900k. then add the system overhead and whatever startup programs you might be running, with a 2M system you could easily run out of ram. If you haven't done it already, decompress the animation to floppy or hard disk and run it with an empty ram: and no other memory intensive programs running in your system.

When I was trying to run the animation it was with empty RAM. I ran it immediately aftre booting. I tried from disk and from a drawer on the hard drive. This is strange…..if it used more than two megs of RAM to run, why didn't it say so? Will the actual game? Bob K.
