I believe their readers are made by Mitsumi, if that's the correct spelling. Hope this helps…

The cheap caddyless is a Mitsumi — the caddy drive is a Sony. That's what their tech support told me a few months ago. You can dump the Driver for the Mitsumi and find a copyright message in it that says Mitsumi. — Al
