Other 3DS Dealers and endusers! (friends, Romans, countrymen)
What CD-ROM's are people using out there? I've got an order in for the new
NEC CDR-74 (280ms), but they are back ordered until the 20th of the month.
Anyone know if any of the standard CD-ROMs are going to support the Kodak
PhotoCD format? Supposedly, the NEC CDR-74/84's will be upgradable
(hopefully just software) for that purpose. Any horor stories on drives to
be avoided?

Texel's new double-speed drives are shipping and support
multi-session PhotoCD (requires Kodak's Access software).

Angelo,
I have been using the NEC CDR-84 for months now and am very pleased with
it. The double speed (300KB/s) REALLY helps; the sample flics fly on the
3DS disk. Also run a lot of MPC stuff and programmers's reference disks
without a hitch. I've had two different (older) Sonys which worked well
but are completely outclassed by the NEC. My only problems were with an
even older Denon drive, but that is ancient history.

I bought one of the Texel's about a year ago and it's been rock solid.
Shame that it's not upgradeable – it's just the single speed internal model
and doesn't support the new stuff.
