I'm looking at removable mass storage devices for use on the PC, and I
found the best (and affordable) to be the 90 Mb. Bernoulli drives.
I would like to connect one of those drives to the Amiga…
Are Bernoulli drives Amiga-compatible??

Yes, If you have a SCSI card installed (like the GVP Series II etc..).
I am happily 'sharing' my Bernouilli box between a PC and an Amiga. I use
CrossDos on the Amiga to let me read and write to PC formatted Bernouilli
cartridges.
In fact (tho' the manufacturers say 1) It can't be done and 2) I'll blow
something up), I have both the PC and Amiga connected simultaneously to the
Bernouilli Box!! So long as I don't ask them both to access the disk
simultaneously, it works fine. Mide void the warranty tho'. (Also if you
reboot the PC, you'll crash the Amiga !!).
Cheaper than ethernet however!!
I'm trying to decide whether to add one of those new 20-meg "floptical"
drives or a Syquest-type drive. I think the Syquest, like the Bernouilli,
can serve a PC, an Amiga and maybe even a Mac, all of which would be
important to me. However, the floptical is probably the more
future-oriented option. I do believe the CrossDOS people have a driver to
read flopticals in the IBM format when installed on an Amiga, so maybe
that's not such a great problem. But your solution is much more
straightforward.
But Floptical are only 20Mb…and sooooo slow.
Also, remember you can STACK your Bernouilli Cartridge on the PC side, for
close to 180Mb of removable *FAST* storage!
You can also read 'STACKED' Bernouilli drives if you have a PC emulator on
your Amiga…even 'lil ole CROSS-PC works fine with Dos 5.0 and Stacker.
