#Blur IPAS!!!
7 messages in this thread
To all: How do you apply a Gausian Blur type filter in Video Post. I have used
the VBLUR IPAS which has a variable of 0.6 to 1.0 which does not create enough
bluring. For examples PhotoShop has a Gausian Blur filter which produces a nice
defoucusing effect with a setting of 8 pixels or so. Any comments or suggestion
is appreciated.

You'd need to use a Gaussian Blur *.exe that could run from VP, or perhaps use
the Scripting Extensions to program your own filtering routine. There may be
some plug-ins such as Filter Factory that feature a GBlur, I don't know.

The circular blur in our disk#1 provides a blur that's very similar to a
Gaussian blur.

Dear G: Thank you. I'll give it a try.

Have you tried using multiple entries of Blur in the VP queue? Otherwise maybe
LenzFX would work better. Also note that the Blur routine in Vblur is not the
same used in a Gaussian blur. You could manually blur in Photoshop – I've done
this before for a transition over 45 frames which worked quite nicely.

Dear David: I've used PhotoShop's Gaussian Blur for a few frames also and it
does work quite well. However, it is not a practical solution for creating long
sequences. Yost group suggested that the circular blur in their disk#1 does a
similar effect and I will give that a try. Thanks for your reply.

LENZFX from Digimation is REALLY nice, do racked focus etc, does blurring via
the what the camera sees and can be a single object etc.
REALLY nice, if you can live with YAD (yet another dongle)
