To anyone interested in buying a Texel drive you might be interested to know that the company CLAIMS that starting next week the drives that are shipped will be "multi-session" drives (re Kodak compatibility). The current drives are "single-session" drives that can be up upgraded for $20.

Kenneth: Does the $20 upgrade simply involve an updated driver, or do you have to send the drive in for hardware work? Rich Bowers

Rich, Texel seemed intentionally vague on this issue. Most of the literature I've seen indicates that you will probably have to send the drive in for a hardware change. When I talked with a Texel salesperson she suggested that they might be able to send you a chip and have you install if yourself. So as far as I can tell it is more than just updating a driver. Good luck, Ken
