15 bits per pixel

Hello, I'm a game developer and we're making a game requiring 3D movies. I would like these movies to be 15 bits/pixel "direct color". This format would use 5 bits each for red, green, and blue. I will be happy to convert (if req'd) to this format. My problem is that our 3D artist said 3D Studio/animator couldn't make animation sequences with a pixel depth greater than 256 color. My understanding is that this is a limitation of the FLC file format. My question is, does anyone know how to use 3D studio/animator to directly produce animations at greater pixel depths? Any help in this area would be appreciated. Thanks, Gene Sewell Minds Eye Games

Hi Gene, .FLC format is limited to 256 colors ! However 3DS is able to produce TIFF,TGA,BMP and JPEG sequences up to 24bit depth. No 3DS: There's a truecolor 16bit format .FLX from Tempra, I'm just researching on this one. Also the DFF format of MMGRASP supports true color. And check out DTA (shareware), it generates .FLX, .FLH(15bit)and .FLT(24bit) Animations out of TGA-Sequences, although the latter two don't seem to work for me, I get strange err codes. Bye Michael
