Dear folks at Softwood,
I also received me copy of this fantastic program (within one week
of sending the check for the upgrade – you guys are on the ball)! I have
noticed one very strange and annoying quirk…after I have been typing for
a while my cursor dissappears. I realize that's natural and that if I move
the mouse to highlight text or t edit the document it should come
back….but often it doesn't. I have to keep randomly clicking on the
screen and hope to place the cursor where I want it to go. It really is
quite an annoyance! Is there some setting I have to change to fix this or
did I get a bum disk? Have you heard about this problem before? I tried to
change the screen colors and it really didn't help.

Hi Bob, I wish everyone got their program as quickly as you did. Regarding
the disappearing mouse pointer… we became recently aware of the problem.
We think it has to do with moving the mouse after a requester goes away
before the refresh window event is received. Anyway, we are working on it
now.

When you work out the mystery of the dissappearing mouse prompt will you be
sending the fix to us? Will w have to pay for it? (by the way there is a
right answer…..) <g>

I have the same problem with the disappearing prompt, only it
happened to me when I go to the top line and hit return to push the text
down several lines so as to put a new line of text ahead of the other text.
It will not return until I close and reopen.
The mouse pointer is supposed to disappear whenever a RETURN or other key
character is pressed. This is so the mouse pointer does not get in the way
of displayed characters. In this case, as soon as you move the mouse the
mouse pointer should reappear. Does it?

The mouse will often disappear after hitting the return key and not return
until I close the doc. and open it again. The mouse is active because the
menus appear, but the pointer is gone and I have to "feel" my way around.

Recently I have had problems printing with my DeskJet 500C. Files
seem to print when they feel like it. Lately when I select print the print
gauge will began to move from left to right on my screen and my printer's
busy light goes on. Nothing else happens. After the gauge is stopped, the
busy light goes off. This seems to happen at random and I was wondering if
you had heard of this phenomenon. Also: no one ever got back to my last
question….how will we know when you've fixed the disappearing mouse
pointer problem and will we have to purchase the fix?

I don't have an answer to your early question yet, Bob. When I do, I will
be happy to answer it. As far as your printing problems go, are you using
the Workbench printer driver, or some other one?

I figured out the printing problem, I had a defective data transfer
switch. I do have another question. Is it possible to combine two
documents. In other words, is there a way I can load two documents into the
file or maybe paste one document onto another? If so, how?

what I usually do is open the second document, highlight the text I'm
interested in, select cut or copy, as appropriate, shift to the window on
the document I want to copy to, put the cursor where I wish to copy/paste
to, then select copy or paste.
Logical, once you get used to the fact of having more than one document
open at a time.
In order to open a second document, just select open from the menu and
select the appropriate document. Use the depth gadget to switch between
gadgets.
Are you sure you've read the manual? It's all in there.

I'm a little disappointed in the FC printout, too. I'm using an HP
compatible laser which usually does a great job, but the jaggies are quite
apparent. Is the problem in the driver, and if so, is there something
that could be done about it? (Maybe a driver update?) I've invested in
the entire package and sure would like to get the kind of printout I'd
hoped for.
Also, the improved readability of the FCII interface is much appreciated.
Have you updated the interface of Proper Grammar, as well? (I'm having a
heck of a time with that.)

Flying high on AP from Edmonton, Canada
FC will print at 300 dpi on your laser. At 300 dpi you should not see
noticable jaggies unless looking through magnification. I suspect you have
not set your graphic print density in FC so it can send info to your
printer at 300 dpi.
1. Choose "Print" from the "Project" menu. 2. Click on the "Graphics"
button in the "Print" requester. 3. Click on "4" for "Print Density" –
300dpi should appear on the req. 4. Click "OK". 5. Click on the "Set
Default" to save this setting. 6. Print a document.
