Bob, what I usually do is open the second document, highlight the text I'm interested in, select cut or copy, as appropriate, shift to the window on the document I want to copy to, put the cursor where I wish to copy/paste to, then select copy or paste. Logical, once you get used to the fact of having more than one document open at a time. In order to open a second document, just select open from the menu and select the appropriate document.
