Rusty Mills, an Animation Director at Warner Bros., has worked
extensively with ImageFX and has this to say about the software system,
"ImageFX is the most substantial graphics package to support 24-bit
animation on the Amiga. The interface is more usable than almost any
software package I've used on any platform. ImageFX is a must-have for all
graphic artists and serious animators."
Developed for use with any Amiga model, ImageFX requires at least 1/2 MB
of chip RAM and 3 MB of fast RAM.

We just received our ImageFX software from GVP today and let me tell you
that is is GREAT! Nice interface…, many features includind scanner
interface, imageprocessing tools, painting tools, preview on the Amiga
screen and framebuffer output, printer support, virtual memory drivers,
AREXX port, AGA compatible, undo buffers, loaders and savers, morph module
(Cinemorph), 256 color palette and much more!!
A real nice product! (kind of a ImageMaster with ADPro interface +
painting tools)

Will there be a demo version of the software?

Jim, we are considering a demo version, but due to the complexity of the
program it's taking a while to evaluate how feasible this is. As you know,
we have to show enough of the program to give a good demo, while not giving
away something REALLY functional! <grin>

Will your and/or your product be on display at the World of Commodore in
Toronto in a week's time? I will be giving lectures on AmigaVision
professional there, and would be very interested in having a look at it.
It'll have to be mighty good to beat Imagemaster and ADPro. <grin>
Make that, it'll have to be EXTRAORDINARY. Also, the tech. support will
have to be good as well. I've had nothing but excellent support from Black
Belt and ASDG, but in any dealings with GVP that I've had, I've only gotten
answering machines.
Anyways, hope to have a gander at the software.

I won't personally be at WOCA, so I can't for sure say what GVP will be
doing in the way of demonstrating it.
GVP's tech support uses a voice routing system. I've had occasion to use
their tech support prior to working with GVP and always had excellent help
and the guys who are doing our support are very well versed in ImageFX and
CineMorph. Plus, you can always ask me directly.
ImageFX is extraordinary. We offer more in our one package than you'd get
spending $1000 for anyone else's software. Plus, you're likely to spend
only slightly over $200 to purchase it, and you'll get a package that
serves all your image processing/editing/scanning/display needs and much
more.

It *sounds* good.
As far as GVP tech support goes, I haven't had need to try and use it for
at least six months. However, six months ago when I tried to call, all I
got was an answering system indicating that I would get a call back from
tech. support. As far as I can remember, it was pretty much the same way
when I worked for a dealership from the time GVP started up and we were
buying HD controllers from them, etc.
I'm not trying to dump on GVP, I'm just indicating that GVP has a
formidable task ahead of them if they want to attain the same level of
customer service that I have obtained from other players in the market.
(Namely Ben and Black Belt, and Perry at ASDG) I can't say enough good
things about these people and the work that they do. Having good software
is half the battle, making it grow and listening to the customers, and
being there when they need help, is the other half. If you are going to be
online to offer help for the software, that's another big plus.

GVP tech support, the last time I called, stopped using the voice mailbox
as the immediate answering system/queue. If a tech support line is open, a
person usually answers it first.

Which scanners does ImageFX support? Will it support scanners connected
via SCSI? I have one I use that way now, It is a DEST PC1000, and connects
via the SCSI buss. I was hoping to get a newer color model like an Epson,
but right now equipment purchases aren't feasible. However, if I can use
other software with my scanner and get the grayscale support it has but I
can't access now, I'd consider a software purchase.

Our current scanner support includes the most common consumer models. The
Sharp JX100 and Epson ES300c. Neither using SCSI. We have support in out
(er…OUR) code for SCSI interfacing though. I'm unfamilar with DEST
PC1000 as well. Not surprising…there seems to be an endless list of
scanners these days! <grin>
We have plans for adding more scanners to the ImageFX package. Mind you,
any consumer level scanner (<$5000) will be added to the base ImageFX
package at _NO_ addition cost, beyond a possible shipping and handling fee.

Kermit: Does ImageFX currently support the cable setup used with ADPro's
scanning software. I already have the Epson 300C loader/cable for ADPro,
but was wondering if I could use ImageFX with it also.

John, we support TWO types of cables for use with the Epson ES300c. The
cable used by Metadigm/ASDG and a cable of our own design that's better for
"talking" with the scanner.

Having not seen ImageFX, yet, I'd still not be the least bit surprised if
that quote comes back to haunt you. :^) It had better be good, or you're
gonna find your flannels flaming. :^)
