#NEC driver version
5 messages in this thread
When updating to MAC OS 7.1 the compatibility checker claimed that my NEC
CD-ROM Driver is out of date and to get version 7.0 of the driver. When
asking my dealer, he claimed that my version 2.x is the newest version
existing.
Whom should I believe?
Any Help?
My NEC CD-ROM Driver version is 2.20b and when start up with sys7.1 always
freeze. I call NEC customer support but already disconected.
I do not using any other non standard INIT or CDEV,even QuickTime.
That's sure V2.x is not compatible with sys7.1
Dose anybody knows NEC customer support new number?

I spoke with customer support of NEC Technology INC.(1-800-388-8888) and he
said v2.1 is most newest version of CD-ROM reader driver.
But also he said nobody knows v2.21 is compatible or not with sys7.1 only
with sys7.0 confirmed.
The NEC 2.x series drivers are compatible with both System 7.0 and 7.1.
You can not use the 4.0 versions of Foreign File Access, though. Use the
previous versions (1.1.1 and 2.0.2).
Also, with some Macs and System 7.1, you may have to rename the driver to
load _before_ any HD inits in your system. If all else fails, turn off 32
bit mode addressing and you should get going immediately.
