#3DS and Compaq66M
4 messages in this thread
We have tried to get a TARGA+64 working in a Compaq Deskpro 66M with 3D
Studio. Although all of the TARGA tests and utilities work, 3D Studio
gives an error message that the TARGA card is in the wrong mode. I have
been in contact with TRUEVISION and they are stumped. We have a 64+
installed in a HP Vectra 486/33U, and it appears to work fine. I have the
latest versions of the drivers. Compaq had shipped us some special loaders
for AutoCAD and Animator with their QVision drivers because they said there
are some incompatibilites with the PharLap extender and this machine,
however they haven't got around to dealing with any problems regarding the
TARGA card. Any suggestions or things I might try? I believe the hardware
is working correctly, and that it is a software problem.
Bud,
According to Larry Edington of Compaq, the PharLap code doesn't like
their cache controller. This has nothing to do with the Targa. They've
developed a patch called PL26CPQ.COM to address the problem. If it's not
yet available on this forum, check Compaq's, or the Truevision section (#6)
of the MULTIVEN forum.

Bud, have you by chance run AAPRO to the TARGA board before running 3DS?
If you have, then you will have to reset the TMODE, i.e. TMODE 11

Yep! As Kevin said, you need PL26CPQ.COM. It will patch any Pharlap 2.6
extender ( 3D Studio, Autocad, Autoshade ) for the 50M and 66M. You can
download it from our forum ( Go Compaq ). Search the data libs for Pharlap
or Autodesk. I also have informed Greg at Truevision of this. They should
be getting the word out to their tech support folks.
