I ask, because each of the faces of >the pyramid was DUPLICATED TWO TIMES and coplanar with each other. In >effect, there were two pyramids coincident with each other. HUH? That certainly answers my question, but raises another one. I created the object in 3DS by simply making a faceted cone (4 sides faceted) where the radius 2 was just a point — is this a no-no? (I HAD thought I was being particularly clever about not having to use the lofter to create this simple object). This isn't isolated — I've created what is undoubtably a similar object by making a faceted tube (3 sided) that exhibited similar bizarre tendancies. So I suspect that this kind of approach is NOT the recommended one, huh? And here I thought I could get around not using the lofter…

You must've created that object by doing more than making a faceted cone with a zero radius2. I just tried that and did NOT get the coplanar faces that I saw in your object. Strange, indeed. Regardless, the way that I would make a pyramid is with a 4-sided hemisphere. Works great. – G

Thanks, makes much sense (and, really, I didn't do anything more. I'm not that clever).
