Does anyone know of a way to add 2 dimensional text to 3DS .FLC files?? Animator pro is far too expensive just to add a couple of annotations to an animation and the old animator appears only to work with 300×200 files. Any ideas?

At Entropy Engineering, we are considering releasing a 'Flic Titler' which woulddo what you want. The plan is to render titles into a flic, and incorporate some of the transitions from our Video Titler product. It will likely be a few months still, but if you are interested, pease send me E-Mail with your name, address, and a wish list. In the meantime, good luck

<add 2D text to .FLC files??> Sure! Here's one way… In Shaper: create your text, choose SHAPE/ALL. In Editor: CREATE/OBJECT/GET SHAPE to get the 2D text. Apply a material and some light (if you simply turn the Ambient light all the way up, you can get flat, evenly-lit text.) In Keyframer: position and perhaps animate your text in one of the orthogonal viewports (i.e. FRONT). Set the rendering resolution to match your flic. Use Video Post to composite the text over your flic. (Choose RENDER/VIDEO POST, Add, Edit, put your flic in the Bitmap slot. Add the KF-Scene to the 2nd slot, then render!) All done. However… Here's my additional two cents: Have a yard sale, work some OT, go out and panhandle and buy AniPro! The advantages of 3DS + AniPro are numerous. I'm fairly new to this whole business but I found out right away: you really need both programs, _especially_ if you're doing FLICs. Makes getting there a lot easier. JKJ (although half the fun is getting there)

I'll try that. Thanx for the help. It seems that putting in ani pro is going to happen eventually, but 3DS was expensive enough!. Thanx Again!
