Hi, we're the largest Tektronix reseller in Los Angeles. The DesignJet
is going to mix colors a little more smoothly, because of liquid inks. Out put
from the 300i is very good, but definitely dithered. FinePoint ™ sharpening
(basically, stochastic dither) can produce a very good result, andis often used
as a proofing device (not as good as the Phaser 480 dye sub, though). The
DesignJet does require special paper to receive the inks, while the solid-ink
Tek printer will print on plain paper, sandpaper, newspaper, tracing paper,
etc.
