Does anyone have a solution to a problem using Music-X v1.1b and the Amiga 600HD40? Problem 1: Plays back ok, but misses events when recording (gets errors) Problem 2: Won't play back system exclusive data.

Mike, I had the "missed events when recording" problem too on both my A500 and A2000. The only solution was to put an accelerator board into my A2000. I spoke once with David Joiner, the author of Music-X, about it, and a faster Amiga was the only solution he had as well. Apparently, the problem doesn't happen on all machines, but when it happens on your machine, there isn't much that can be done about it, unfortunately. Have you tried entering some system exclusive data manually and seeing if it will play back? The problem may be that you're missing events when recording the SYSEX data, if that's how you're getting it into the program. I don't work with SYSEX in Music-X, so I can't give you a report based on my experience. I can tell you that others have also reported problems using it, though. Supposedly, they are working on an upgrade to Music-X, but I don't know any projected date when it will be available. David

Mike, The system exclusive transmit/receive is broken in Music-X 1.1b. 🙁 The original (v1.0) sysex worked pretty well but the bottom fell out with 1.1b. That version of Music-X gives you a choice of which timer to use, if it's set to A, try B or vice-versa. Changing the timer is one of the recommended procedures if you're getting a lot of record errors, at least it's worth a try. Howard – via Whap!
