>You could try DPS in Kentucky (606)371-5533 to see if they have a dealer network >set up for the PC version yet. I decided to call them, since it's here in KY, and they say it is looking like December. The list will be around $2000 without the 500 MB recommended drive. It includes component/Y/C and composite connectors. From what I understand, it is recorded in 4:2:2 component. If you want to record video in, you'll probably want the TBC IV. For output only, you don't need it, says DPS. About the quality, I have heard of a guy that is selling a recordable video disk recorder because he likes the DPS better. (that sold me!) Well I hope that helps. I, personally, am kinda skeptical about the December date, since I called last month and they said to call back this month. Now they say December. I could be wrong, but all I have been hearing are promises on this and that, but few results for many, many things. Cest La Vie John Jordan

John, I find very few things to fault with the DPS PAR and you comments just reinforce that. The next thing to do is to have one in my hands and evaluate it with the kindof stuff I do. I believe December is probably a realistic ship date now. Hey Santa….

Martin: >I believe December is probably a realistic ship date now. Hey Santa…. Yes, Greg P. just eased any reservations I had. Now for a few thousand bucks… I think that amount of cash would break even Santa's pocketbook. I know the only way I could get one right now is if God were to say "Here you go, have fun." <g> JNJ

I know, I know… For us small fish, even $2.5k is major fundage. But this thing (DPS PAR) is really too good to pass up. I'm gonna have to get one even if at the risk of a divorce <ouch>.

Martin: I need one as well, but I don't think any hardware/software is worth a divorce <g>. Not even a SGI Reality Engine or something <drool…>.

OK, I guess I was half kidding about the divorce. I should have put a "<1/2g>" symbol for a uncertain, not totally convined grin. I don't want a divorce but I'm anticipating some marital strife over the purchase 🙁

Greg Pyros of the Pyros Partnership is the official source of information for the DPS PAR now. He actually has one and is probably playing with it now. Call him in California, USA at 714/833-0334.
