I have an A3000 and a 286 bridgeboard prev used in A2000.
I understand the new A3000 BB uses the 3.5" drive DF0: from the Amiga.
Is it possible for me to convert my BB which has a 5.25" drive for use in the
A3000 with the 3.5" drive? And how?

Gordon,
The BB can use the Amiga drive, but only with Flipper. To use
a 3.5" drive withe the 286 will still require a separate PC drive.
Most 3.5" PC drives come with a bracket for mounting in a standard
5.25" drive bay and have an adaptor for connecting the standard cable
for a 5.25" drive onto a 3.5" drive. You could use that drive and
the cable connected directly to the BB. However, a PC drive will not
fit well into the drive bay on the Amiga, or rather the front bezel
won't match the opening on the Amiga case cover.
The other alternative is to connect an Amiga external drive to the
external drive connector on the rear of the BB. I think the 286 BB has the
external connector — at least the 2088 and 386 BBs have them. If you use the
Janus 2.1 software you can select the external drive as drive A:

Looks like I'm SOL on this one. The 286 BB does not have an external drive
connector on the back. Thanks for your input.

Not necessarily. You can still connect a PC 3.5" drive to the BB's
internal connector. All you need is the correct cable with the BB connector on
one end and the drive connector on the other. I believe the cable you already
have for the 5.25" drive will work, because most PC 3.5" drives have a
connector adaptor which allows one to use the 5.25" drive connector on the 3.5"
drive. You may want to check that out.
'Fraid not. You need the Flipper program, and a special cable, and they only
work with the 386 BB.

I didn't catch the beginig of this so im not sure what the original
question was, but I have a A3000 with a 286BB that came with a 5 1/4
drive. To hook up the drive for the 286BB I removed the little metal
slot cover on the slot next to the one that I instaled the BB into,
the connector for floppies is right next to the slot opening and with
a little work you can get the cable out the opening (the conector is
a little ofset from the opening). I put the 5 1/4 floppy along with
a 3 1/2 floppy in an external drive case that has its on power
supply. This is probably not the nicest looking set up but it works
well.
