Help! Please does anyone know the format of MCI string to send to the aaPlay.DLL in order to play just a segment of a full-screen Flic file repeatedly and seamlessly? I am writing an application in Authorware Professional for Windows and having limited success in that the aaPlay routine seems to wish to unload after each cycle, causing unsightly delays and flashing, pallete changes etc. Does anyone know if this DLL is capable of repeating just a segment, and if so how, please. Many thanks, Stephen Brabbins Digital Image, UK.

Hi Stephen, It sounds like you need the Autodesk Animation Player for Windows, C Programmer's Reference Manual. Call -1800-879-4233 or 1-800-228-3601 and order it. In terms of playing a segment of a flic seamlessly, when a flic is created in 3DS, it is possible to intentionally create an entire flic which plays seamlessly. Playing a subset of a flic will not yield a seamless playback. If you wish to play a looping segment a number of times, that too is possible and the reference manual mentioned above is recommended.

You will have better luck playing segments if you convert your flic files to AVI and save them with a full screen every couple of frames. Your compression will go to hell so they'll play a bit slower but you will be able to imbed sound if you need to.
