I am a video/mm producer in the SF Bay Area and have produced many, many videos
for the American Jail Association and the American Correctional Association
(both in the D.C. area). Although I have no formal training in corrections,
after five years doing this stuff, and after spending time in about a dozen
jails in the US, I feel as though I do.
The AJA and ACA commission us to do almost exclusively officer/supervisor
training programs. There's been talk about doing tapes for inmates, but
somehow, there's never funding for those. We do, however, always work with
real inmates in our productions.
I'd love to talk with you about your programs. In fact, we'll be shooting a
series of videos in corrections facilities in NY State in the spring. (I take
it the Nassau County you refer to is Long Island? I think every state on the
east coast and many further west have Nassau Counties. <g> My husband was born
and raised in Farmingdale.)

Farmingdale is just up the road. In your work do you ever run across
jails that have their own production facilities? I would love to here more
about your work, maybe you have a highlights tape?
Before you come to N.Y. give me a post in this forum and I will gladley
get you in to our studio for a visit if your Hubby wants to visit his old
stomping grounds.

I've met jail personnel who have equipment and use it for jail
purposes–bulletins, etc., but none that have production facilities on site.
You might contact Orlando, Florida's jail–that's one guy I remember doing
video on site.
We don't have a highlights tape, simply because we don't specialize in
corrections stuff. Our demo tape plays lightly on corrections; if you're not
in the business, you don't want to see stuff in the business. Most of our work
is with educators and trainers; the ACA/AJA stuff is just one of our on-going
work. I can run down the latest titles: report-writing, boot camps, the
Americans with Disablities Act, multiculturalism, sexual harassment. If you
want to see a full list, these are being advertised by the two associations.
