We have Reflection 5010c WORM device attached to an AST server, using N3.11 and CorelSCSI drivers, drive is LUN2, hard disk is LUN0. We Format under Ctools, then use install for partition, naming, mounting, dismounting, then Ctools again to "Dismount Medium". We can access the drive OK. When we turn over and perform the same on the other side, all OK, but on turning back to side 1, we get various error messages. We are dismounting correctly, etc each time! Typ. messages are: "error writing to the directory on AST466/WORM; " error writing to file (file name not accessible) data stream 0; 2 error writing to FAT on WORM … We then find we cannot mount the cartridge again and checking the SCSI for devices has already brought the system down! … ANY IDEAS PLEASE ??

Gary, If the worm drive is full, we will software write protect the cartridge. If this is the case you must be loading PATCH311.NLM, PATCHMAN.NLM and WORMROFX.NLM. These patches fix known 3.11 NOS deficiencies and can be down-loaded from Novell's forum. Other than this, you'll want to ensure that the controller that you are using is not defaulting to SYNC negotiation. I hope this helps. Laszlo
